Dear Neighbors & the Residents of the 76th Assembly District:
October 2005
My opponent has misrepresented my position on everything from the environment
to immigration. I'll be an independent thinker in Sacramento -- for example, I supported
the Governor's veto of the so-called immigrants driver's license bill, but I thought the
Governor was wrong when he vetoed the bill that would have allowed Californians
to buy less expensive Canadian prescription drugs.
Sincerely,

Lori Saldaņa

Dear Neighbor & Residents of the 76th Assembly District:
The Governor and I don't agree on everything, but we do agree on immigration.
I supported his recent veto of a driver's license bill because it failed to address
legitimate security concerns. Immigration is a Federal responsibility, and California
taxpayers should not be left holding the bag for failed national policies.
I join Governor Schwarzenegger in demanding the following of our Federal representatives:
1. Enforce our borders with modern techniques and technology;
2. Penalize employers who hire illegally;
3. Fully reimburse State and local governments for the impacts of Federal
immigration policies.
I've never held public office, so my opponent is free to make whatever predictions
she thinks might get your attention. I will, however, be guided by this premise: public policy
should encourage people to follow the law -- not break it.
I'm a teacher and I recently completed a term as local Chair of the Sierra Club. Not surprisingly,
my priorities are education and the environment.
I know that you have seen these types of negative, attack campaigns before. I hope that you
recognize them for what they are, and give me an opportunity to earn your trust as your
representative for the 76th Assembly District in Sacramento. Thank you.
Sincerely,

Lori Saldaņa
